Willie Ray Evans

d. March 3, 2024

Willie Ray Evans was born December 3, 1950 to his parents, Charles P. and Madie L. (Scott) Evans. He did not have to enter this life alone, as he arrived with his twin brother, Walter.

Willie was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School, Class of 68. He was a member of the Beauregard Church of Christ. Willie passed from this life on March 3, 2024, in the city of Lake Charles, LA.

After serving in the military, Willie lived a good portion of his life in California but returned to DeRidder in his later years.

Willie was a comical type character who doted on his wife, Marilyn of fifty plus years. He was her primary care taker up until the time of his death. He did so with loyalty and love. Willie believed in family and was proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking for them and would post photos of the meals he created on Facebook. He let nothing stand between him and giving to his family, not even his own poor health.

Willie loved the Lord and his church. His relationship with his pastor was one of a spiritual connection and friendship. He regularly posted uplifting scriptures and spiritual messages that he hoped would lift up others as will as himself. Through the worst of his troubles and health challenges, he tried his best to always display a positive outlook on life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Madie Evans; brothers, Louis Evans, George Evans, Walter Evans.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Marilyn Evans of DeRidder, LA; sons, Donnell Evans of Houston, TX, Devon Evans of Chico, CA, DeMario Evans of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Phaedra Dryanee Evans of DeRidder, LA; brother, Jerry Wayne Evans of TX; sisters, Emma Smith of Dallas, TX, Lucy Nichols and LaZetta Claiborne (Claudius), both of Houston, TX; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Jasper Newsome will officiate the service.
