Willie Mae Malone, 74, of DeRidder, LA passed from this life on Friday, March 29, 2013 in Lake Charles, LA.  She was born January 20, 1939 in Iowa, LA to Edward and Grace Davis, both deceased.


She moved to DeRidder, LA at an early age.  She was a graduate of Carver High School and Grambling State University.  Mrs. Malone retired from the Beauregard Parish School System. She was former owner of Malone Bar-B-Que, Ultra Mart Convenience Store and Grey Hound Station.  She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  She served as a board member of the Beauregard Employee’s Credit Union, a member of the Beauregard Parish Library Board, President of Beauregard Parish Chapter Grambling Alumni Association, a member of Louisiana Workforce Commission, The American Cancer Society and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc.  She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Arvin Malone; son, Arvane Malone; daughter, Courtney Spikes; sisters, Cora Riley of DeRidder, LA, Wanda Davis of Baton Rouge, LA and Frankie Johnson of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Malcolm Davis and Alvin Davis, both of DeRidder, LA; granddaughters, Stephanie Malone of Austin, TX, Sterling Childs of Lake Charles, LA, Jahirah Spikes of DeRidder, LA; grandson, Jah’aire Alexander and great grandson, Jean-Luke Ayala and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and god-children.


Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA from 6:00pm until 8:30pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:00pm, with a rosary at 12:30 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Father Jude Brunnert will officiate.
