William E. Mcdaniel, Jr.

d. September 15, 2017

Williams E. McDaniel, Jr. or better known as Billy or Billy Mac, left this life peaceably and went into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 15, 2017. He was born in Bogalusa, LA to Eugene and Chlora McDaniel on August 17, 1934.  He graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1955 and attended Louisiana College, where he met his loving wife of sixty-three years.

At the age of eight years old he made the choice to accept Jesus as his Savior and Lord and he never waivered from following him. In his adult life, he served his Lord in three churches. He served faithfully in many capacities at First Baptist Moss Bluff where he was a member for almost thirty years and was ordained as a deacon in 1972. Some of his fondest memories were serving in the senior adult ministry and children’s ministries at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Southaven, MS.  He was a charter member of New Life Baptist Church.  His service at New Life was given willingly and unselfishly especially during the time the church was a mission. He enjoyed cooking, LSU sports, woodworking, gardening, and hunting. He retired in 1991 from Vista Chemical Company in Westlake after many years of service. His family was of upmost importance to him and until he became ill, he was always available to meet any need they might have. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was especially devoted to those who call him Paw-Paw.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, JoElyn Smith McDaniel. Son and wife, Joseph and a Terri McDaniel, Granddaughter, Amber McDaniel, and Great Granddaughter, Skylar McDaniel, Sister Lucy Crosby and Husband Ben, Niece Kay Chance (Wes).  Brother -in-law Shirly Smith (Jewel).   As well as several nieces and nephews. His very special, precious extended family will also cherish his memory.  John and Robbie` Nelson, John Christian Nelson, Jamie` Nelson Russell (Trevor), Jessica Nelson Dear (Jaren), Josiah and Jessah Dear, Bonnie Burnsworth and her two children Draven and Arie, Chuck Duncan and his two children, Keltie and Athena. Preceding him in death were his parents, His in-laws, Jenny and Herman Smith, Brother-in-Law, Jimmy and Sue Smith and nephew, Ken Crosby.

Visitation will be at New Life Baptist Church Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 5:00- 9:00 PM.  A memorial service will be planned at a later date. The family request no floral arrangements, but rather make donations to the New Life Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
