Troy Eugene Hudson, Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born on June 28, 1956, in Sunny South, AL, and spent his life in Merryville, Louisiana, where he created countless memories with those he loved.
Troy was a true southern gentleman who wore his heart on his sleeve. He had an unwavering passion for Alabama "Tide" football and was a dedicated fan of the SEC. Whether he was cheering on his favorite team or spending time in the Smoky Mountains, he embraced all that life had to offer. He was a proud member of the River Church family, where he loved sharing his faith and making lifelong friends.
Troy's love for Christian music and classic country tunes filled his home with joy. He was not just a hard worker in his field, but also a master in the kitchen, known for whipping up the best chicken and dumplings you'll ever taste. His infectious laughter could light up any room, and he brought smiles to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Troy treasured his granddaughters above all. He was their biggest cheerleader, supporting them in every sport and event, proving that his heart was as big as his spirit.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fourteen years, Rita "ReeRee" Hudson of Merryville, LA; sons, Troy "T" Eugene Hudson, Jr. and Emily of Merryville, LA; Mikie Hudson of Sulphur, LA; mother of his sons, Sherry Hudson of Merryville, LA; step daughters, Katrina Gutierrez of Lake Charles, LA, Beth Moore and Kenny of Lake Charles, LA; granddaughters, Torie Hudson of Merryville, LA, Kaileigh Hudson of Merryville, LA, Lexi Gutierrez of Pearland, TX, Bella Gutierrez of Lake Charles, LA, Brooke Gutierrez of Lake Charles, LA, Samantha Moore of Lake Charles, LA, Tempie Moore of Lake Charles, LA; great granddaughter, Tatum Lynn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Baby Mikie; parents, Clarence and Inez Hudson; sisters, Betty, Marion, Ann; brothers, Arthur, Junior, Charles, Tony, Terry, Johnny.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at The River Church in Merryville, LA. Pastor Jason Fortenberry will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Pickett, Dale Beard, Ricky Head, Don Hillman, Earl Lowry, Jesse Jackson, Chris Jackson.
He may be gone from our sight, but he will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, Troy. You will be missed.
