Timothy Wayne Leger

Minister Timothy Wayne Leger, a beloved member of the DeRidder community, passed away on August 17, 2024. He was born on February 13, 1960, in DeRidder, LA, to a family that would grow to cherish and celebrate his life.

Timothy graduated from DeRidder High School and later pursued his calling in ministry, receiving his ministerial license while attending Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, where he had found solace and community under the guidance of Pastor Wilson and Reverend Smith. His devotion to his faith was unwavering, and Timothy continued to share his spiritual gifts with the congregation at Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Alvin Peters, Sr.

In his professional life, Timothy served as a dedicated Bus Driver for the Beauregard Parish School Board, ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school. His commitment to his job reflected his caring and responsible nature, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.

Timothy was a passionate man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for horses and fishing, hobbies that allowed him to connect with nature and find inner peace.

Timothy Wayne Leger is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Joyice Leger, his children, Christopher Johnson and Alicia Johnson, his siblings Jerome Coleman, Lionell Coleman, and Eloyce Williams, his brother-in-law Edward Williams and Franklin Simon, and his cherished grandchildren, Christina, Christopher II, Emmanuel, Nialla, and J'Chiry, five great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Timothy was preceded in death by father, Wilfred Leger; mother, Bertha Hargrove; siblings, Jeffery Leger, Wilfred Leger, Jr., Evelyn Conley, Linda Coleman-Simon; stepfather, Bobbie Hargrove; nephew, Tony Wilkerson.

The funeral service to honor and celebrate Timothy's life will be held on August 24, 2024, at 11:00 am, with a public viewing preceding the service at 9:00 am at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Murray Piper will preside and Rev. John Crosley will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Richard Moore, Jake Ashworth, Cecil Stewart, Ronald Shelby, JR McClinton, John Hendrix. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Ashworth, Alvin Ashworth, Larry Simon, John Giles, Joseph Johnson, Robert Johnson, Gerry Johnson. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. The ceremony will be a testament to the impact Timothy had on those around him and the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind. May his spirit continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
