Funeral services for Thelma May Shafer Lewis, will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 7, 2014 at First Pentecostal Church, DeRidder, with Reverends Kevin Reeves, Zale Lewis, George Glass, Jr. and Franklin Moses officiating. Interment will be held at Rosepine Cemetery.


Mrs. Lewis, age 68, of DeRidder, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at her residence in DeRidder. She was a native of Rosepine, Louisiana. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend. Thelma was co-owner (retired) of Lewis Motors in DeRidder and a retired beautician. She enjoyed her life to the fullest and most of all she enjoyed doing things for others. Her life is better understood not from words but from the love that she put into her family and friends. She lived to love and is already greatly missed.


She is preceded in death by her parents George R. Shafer and Vida Bass Shafer; four brothers, George Robert Shafer, Harold Edmund Shafer, W. Leo Shafer and Jiles Orlando Shafer, one sister, Sandra Kay Shafer Moses.


She is survived by her husband, Jimmie L. Lewis of DeRidder; two sons, Alan Farquhar (Stephanie) of DeRidder and Dr. Steven Farquhar (Sandra) of DeRidder; one step-son, Philip Lewis (Liz) of Rosepine; two step-daughters, Beth Lewis Jefferies (Jeff) of DeRidder and Barbara Lewis Kite of Lafayette; one brother, Larry Elmo Shafer (Cindy) of Rosepine; three sisters, Vivian Shafer Scarborough (Bill) of DeRidder,  Georgia Shafer Burnett (Jeff) of Baton Rouge, and Joetta Shafer Richardson of DeRidder; two sister-in-laws, Gloria Clemons Shafer of Rosepine, and Juanita Carway Shafer of Silsbee, TX; seven Grandchildren, eight Great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Friends and family may visit at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and at the First Pentecostal Church, DeRidder, on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 1:00 pm until time of service.
