Shirley Ann Jackson was born to Oscar Williams and Fannie Mae Thomas on October 10, 1952 in DeRidder, LA. She departed this life on Saturday, July 8, 2023.


She moved to Oberlin, LA when she was a young girl, went to school there and graduated. Sister Jackson accepted Christ at an early age. She later moved back to DeRidder, married Harry Jackson, and to this union, three children were born. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family.


She worked at Fort Polk, LA, Westwood Manor, and later for the Beauregard Parish School Board and Beauregard School Employees Credit Union where she later retired due to her health. Whenever you saw her, you saw a beautiful soul with a beautiful smile.


Sister Jackson was a member of Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Daniel Stafford. She was actively involved with the Mission (Secretary), the Adult Choir, Sunday School Class #12, Hospitality Ministry, Pastor’s Aide Ministry (Secretary/Treasurer), Christian Education (Asst. Secretary), and worked with the Young People’s Department.


She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Harry Jackson; two daughters, Sharon Jackson and Sonia (Steward) Samuel; one son, Jarvin Jackson, all of DeRidder, LA; seven sisters, Leotha Papilion of Baytown, TX, Gurtie Williams, Alice (Joseph) Gradney of Oberlin, LA, Lillie Guillory of Elton, LA, Jeannie (Jimmy) Slate of Oberlin, LA, Kathy (Joseph) Delafosse of Lake Charles, LA, and Mary (Jimmy) Ford of Beaumont, TX; four brothers, Ward “Pop” (Georgia) Williams of Oakdale, LA, William “Wine” (Denise) Williams of DeRidder, LA, James (Linda) Thomas of Oberlin, LA, and Bobby (LaSonda) Thomas of Oberlin, LA; two Godchildren, Damesha Jackson of Missouri and Courtney Dalton of Alexandria, LA; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Reverend Daniel Stafford will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Vincent Thompson, Quinndell Gordon, Billy Jackson, Kentra Jackson, Anthony Taylor, Damarrious Jackson, Dontavious Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ward Williams, James Thomas, Joseph Gradney, Jimmy Ford, William Williams, Bobby Thomas, Joseph Delafosse, Jimmy Slate, Cedric Charles. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
