Sharon Lynn Duke Henthorne

Sharon Lynn Duke Henthorne, 77, of Leesville, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

Sharon (A.K.A) Nanny) was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. This is clear in the fifty-eight-year marriage to her husband, our father. She truly cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her great-grandchildren; this being her most enjoyable role, that of “Nanny.” She was a strong, yet loving person always seeing the good in everyone. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always took enjoyment in my father’s silly jokes. She had a strong Christian faith and was committed to the Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling oftentimes to visit family. Sadly, due to health issues, her ability to travel was significantly hindered.

We will always have a void in our hearts, yet we understand that her absence here on earth merely implies her awaiting our arrival with her. She will forever be missed. We love you very much, mom!

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Richard Henthorne of Leesville, LA; son, Christopher Henthorne and Christy of Atcheson, KS; daughter, Melissa Maddox and Paul of Rosepine, LA; sister, Renee Karr of Leesville, LA; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Ina Cady; sister, Dorothea Pearson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a rosary being said at 6:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral mass will be Monday, August 14, 2023 at 12:10 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA. Reverend V. Wayne LeBleu will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA.
