Shannon "Craig" Cryer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shannon "Craig" Cryer, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us on February 24, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on May 13, 1962, in DeRidder, Louisiana, Craig was as genuine and down-to-earth as they come. He lived a simple life, finding joy in the great outdoors, whether he was hunting deer and squirrels or fishing on Anacoco Lake with his grandfather.

Craig was the kind of guy who valued hard work and commitment; he spent many years as a plumber, notably serving the Beauregard Parish School Board. His love for his trade was only matched by his passion for LSU Football and NASCAR, where he cheered on his favorite, Dale Earnhardt.

He is survived by his father, Jimmy Wayne Cryer; stepmother, Peggy Cryer, both of Jasper, TX; his sister, Trina Chaney of Moss Bluff, LA; nephews, Ryan Chaney, Dylan Chaney, Zachary Smith; great nephew, Easton Smith and a host of other family and friends, who will forever cherish the wonderful memories of their time together.

Craig is preceded in death his mother, Larry Bell Hicks; grandparents, Bertrand B. and Tressie Goodeaux.

Rest in peace, Craig. You'll be missed by many.

Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home.
