Sandra Joyce Miller Farquhar

Sandra Joyce Miller Farquhar, 54, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Sandra known to most as Sandy was a woman that effortlessly found her way into the hearts of so many. She spent over thirty years serving her community, family, and friends as a registered nurse. Sandy had a passion for nursing so much that she spent close to ten years as a nurse educator. She may have taken her nursing cap off, but she continued to serve as a nurse beyond her retirement to close friends and family. Sandy took great joy in being a mom but being a Nana completed her life.

There is no doubt that her greatest love in life was her family, and it was felt immensely in her hugs and most definitely in her cooking. If you ever had the privilege to taste her cooking, you had the honor to feel her love. Each dish she made was “Sandified” with a splash of Cajun and an unmeasurable amount of love.

Her many talents didn’t end with cooking. When Sandy wasn’t cooking, she could be found decorating or creating a floral masterpiece. She was blessed with a green thumb and if she wasn’t planting flowers, she could be found tending her garden that she generously gave of her tomatoes and cucumbers. It is easily said that her favorite past time was spent with the love of her life Steven sailing the ocean on a cruise ship.

Sandy had a laughter that was contagious, and her smile would light up any room. Both which will undoubtedly be missed but we are brought peace by knowing that one day we will see her smile and hear her laughter again.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of twenty years, Dr. Steven Farquhar of DeRidder, LA; sons, Shane Savoie, II and Melissa of Cuero, TX, Aaron Savoie and Sarah of Ragley, LA; daughters, Kaylyn Cooley and Keith of DeRidder, LA, Victoria Salazar and Jeremy of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Donna Rachal of Pineville, LA, Jerrie Miller of Moss Bluff, LA, Karen Hall and Steve of Lafayette, LA, Linda Miller Chaney of Dry Creek, LA; grandchildren, MacKenzie, Preston, Jayden, Avereigh, Harper, Devaney, Ian, Klay, Bianca, Carson, Cameron and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanders and Onita Miller.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA. Pastor George Lee Glass will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Tray West, Justin Savoie, Chris Hebert, Franklin Moses, Randy Peshoff, Al Cooley. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
