Sammy Wayne Moses, 91years old and a lifelong resident of DeRidder, LA, passed away on March 21, 2025, in DeRidder, LA.
Sam was born on January 10, 1934, in DeRidder Louisiana, to Elmer and Esther Chevalier Moses. He graduated from DeRidder High School, and after attending McNeese State College, served in the United States Air Force for two years. Upon returning back to DeRidder, Sam married Dolores (Dodie) Switzer and began his career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked as a rural mail carrier for more than 30 years. Sam was a talented woodworker, creating furniture for many families in Beauregard Parish. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, particularly his Harley Davidson, inventing and creating gadgets of all kinds, and being outdoors, particularly in Arkansas camping with family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Dodie Moses of DeRidder, LA, his son Jeffrey Moses and wife Cari, of Lumberton, TX, granddaughter Leah Moses Myers and husband Bryan, of Ragley, LA, one great-grandson, Barrett Myers, and a host of nieces and nephews that he cherished dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Esther Moses, and his brother Elmer Wallace Moses.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in the Myers Colonial Funeral Home chapel from 11:00 PM until 1:00 PM. A graveside service will be held after visitation on Tuesday at Beauregard Cemetery.
