Rose Mae Prater-Jordan

Our Queen Rose Mae Prater-Jordan was born on January 27, 1944 in Singer, Louisiana.  She was the first of three to the parentage of the late Herman Prater and Ollie Mae Prater.  Rose Mae Prater-Jordan entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2019 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital.  She is survived by her husband Mr. Tommy J. Jordan of 57 years of marriage, including her sister:  Bertha M. Prater and brother Larry D. Prater.


Left to cherish her memories are her children: Jacqueline Jordan, Regina (Douglas) Rankins, Angela (Bobby) Seawright, Youlanda (Michael) Jefferson, Freda Jordan and Artist (Myrick) Jordan.  Her grandchildren: Matthew, Jordan, Chris, Nick, Douglas, Austin, Asia, Michael, Natasha, Portia, Alexis and Alaysia; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ollie Mae Prater and grandson, Bobby Seawright, Jr.


Rosie Mae Prater-Jordan was baptized into the church at an early age.  She continued to be steadfast walking hand and hand with the Lord.


She always enjoyed good Christian singing and fellowship with her Christian family and friends. Her hobbies included many crafts, cooking, tending to her plants and being the rock for her family, while always putting others first.


Rose loved her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her husband and family, as well as all those who knew her.


Visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will start at 9:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00 AM, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Brother Anthony Fletcher,  Brother Johnny Lewis and Brother Edgar Bryant will officiate the service.  Active pallbearers areMatthew Stephenson, Jordan Stephenson, Christopher Stephenson, Nickolas Stephenson, Austin Rankins, Douglas Rankins, Michael Jefferson, Michael Jefferson, Sr., Bobby Seawright and Douglas Rankins, Sr. Honorary pallbearers are Jacqueline Jordan, Regina Jordan Rankins, Angela Jordan Seawright, Youlanda Jordan Jefferson, Freda Jordan and Viddie Artis Jordan.
