Robert H. Thompson

November 15, 1924 - May 4, 2016

Robert H. Thompson, 91, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.  Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a tank driver during World War II in the Pacific and saw action on the islands of Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian.  He retired from ARCO/BP after 38 years of service.  He loved woodworking and traveling across the country with his wife Jo.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Patrick Thompson and wife Carolyn of Chalmette, LA; sister, Marvis Lynn Ross of Lockhart, TX; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Drobny Thompson of Highland CA; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Ann Thompson; son, Michael Edward Thompson; daughter, Annette Renee Thompson; parents, Robert Bertle Thompson and Mattie Elizabeth (Lizzie) Thompson; brother, Loyd Edward Thompson.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00am at Merryville First United Methodist Church in Merryville, LA.  Burial will follow at Meadows Cemetery in Merryville, LA.
