Prentice Ebb Hyatt was born on Saturday, July 26, 1941 in DeRidder, Louisiana. He left the confines of this world at the age of 77 on Monday, June 24, 2019 on his daughter's birthday. His death occurred at home at 172 Prentice Hyatt Road, Starks, LA in Beauregard Parish. Prentice was born to Barbara Lee Clark Hyatt, originally from Plain Dealings, Louisiana and Willie Elton Hyatt of Starks. Prentice was the third of seven children. His siblings are Elton Hyatt (deceased) and wife Jackie Sue Stewart Hyatt (deceased) of Starks, Homer Ray Hyatt and wife Lorraine of Starks, Linda Hyatt Richard and husband Rick of Starks, Carolyn Sue Hyatt Wolf and husband Arthur Wolf (deceased) of Starks, David Elwood Hyatt (deceased) and wife Mary Roachell Chavers of Starks and Michael Lynn Hyatt of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and one child, Amanda Lanell Hyatt Deen and her husband Keith Deen, Jr. of Starks. Prentice was married once to Ella Pearl Smith Hyatt (deceased). The marriage lasted over 49-years. Prentice resided most of his life in the small town of Starks, which he loved dearly. He graduated from Starks High School on May 23, 1960. In his early life, he was a professional painter. Later, he earned his CDL with HAZMAT endorsement and became an owner-operator of tanker-trucks with two additional trucks and drivers. He worked in the logistical industry for 30-years, driving most for Miller Transporter's from the Beaumont, Texas terminal. In addition, he managed a cow-calf operation for approximately 50-years and was a landlord for 30-years. He was raised into the DeQuincy Masonic Lodge #279 on June 30, 1963. He was well-liked and respected by co-workers, community and family. Children and adults who knew him often saw him as a father or grandfatherly figure, someone who's advice they valued.
Visitation is available 5-8 pm on Friday and 9-11 am on Saturday at First Baptist Church of Starks. His life will be honored with a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11 am. Reverend Ron Butler will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Keith Deen, Brandon Johnson, Todd Sullivan, Thomas Berwick, Johnny Henry, and Stephen Grissom. Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery of Starks next to his wife.
