Phil Boyette, 79, of Grant, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.


Mr. Phil served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army.  After his military service, he attended college and earned a masters degree in education and taught and coached for several schools in Louisiana.  He was an avid knife collector and wrote beautiful poetry.  He was a loving husband, father, granddad, and a dedicated Deacon of Palestine Baptist Church in Grant, LA.  He was a member of the Gideons’ and provided Bibles to those in need of the Lord’s word.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Mary S. Boyette; son, Charles Boyette and Dionne of Sulphur, LA; daughter, LeeAnn Maxwell and Brent of Grant, LA; brother, Noah Boyette of Buna, TX; sister, Phyllis Carroll of Alabama; five grandchildren; and a host of extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Boyette; three brothers:  Roger, Buzz and Worth Boyette; two sisters:  Johnnie Redding and Annette Townson.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 5:00-9:00 PM at Palestine Baptist Church in Grant, LA. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM, also at Palestine Baptist Church.  Brother Brent Maxwell and Brother Hardy Estes will officiate.  Burial will follow
