Otha "Nita" Whitaker

Otha Vernita Whitaker, 79, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, July 26, 2019.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 37 years, James Whitaker, Sr. of DeRidder, LA; sons, Rex Lynn Melvin and Lesa of Belton, TX and Louis Daniel Palousek, Jr. and Maureen of Killeen, TX; daughters, Pamela Ann Knapp and Mike of Killeen, TX,  Bridget Roy and Percy of Kaplan, LA; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Dennis Whitaker and James Whitaker, Jr.; daughter, Annell McDaniel; parents, Virgil and Angie Moore; brother, Ermel Lee; sisters, Margie and Vivian.

Visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Visitation will start at 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM at Spring Creek Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Dalton Isbell and Brother Doug Isbell will officiate the service.  Pallbearers will be Percy Roy, Marshall Cox, Doug Isbell, Edmond Russell, Mike Knapp, Thomas Melvin. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
