Opal Hickman was born to Lewie and Ola Mae Craig on July 4, 1932 in Knight, Louisiana.
Opal accepted Christ at a young age and became a faithful member of Power House Church, where she remained faithful until her death. She was a Sunday school youth teacher, Sunday school treasurer, President of Bible Band and Assistant President to the women’s department.
Sis. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Lewie and Ola Mae Craig; daughter, Jo Veder Hickman Knight; brothers, L.C. Craig and E. J. Craig.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Elder Jesse Hickman; sisters, Helen Dotson, Betty Sue Young, and Leola Mazyck all of DeRidder, Louisiana, Evelyn Taylor (Curtis) and Willie Jean Ellis of Arkansas; brother, Johnnie Craig of DeRidder, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Carmen Brown and Naomi Craig of Knight, Louisiana; brothers-in-law, David Hickman of Knight, Louisiana, Daniel Hickman of Merryville, Louisiana; son-in-law, William Knight of Ohio; grandchildren, Lance Knight (Sandra), Catina Knight Catney (Jarron) and Kentrick Knight all of Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and god-daughter, Francekia Ford Huffman.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana from 5:00pm till 9:00pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Powerhouse COGIC in Knight Community, Louisiana at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Almadane Cemetery in Almadane, Louisiana. Elder Harold Wright will officiate.
