Oliver D. Ellis, 97, affectionately known as “Sarge” entered into time on April 17, 1916, in Lubbock, TX.  He was the second son of John Ellis and Alice Wilson Ellis.  Both parents, his sister, Johnetta, and brothers, John Jr., Tommy, and William, preceded him in death.  Oliver accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.  He served in the U.S. Army for 30 years and obtained the rank of Master Sgt.  Oliver united in marriage to Irma Gilbert.  They were married for 70 years.  On December 2, 2013, Oliver answered the call of the Master and departed from this life in time to eternity to live more fully with God.


Oliver leaves to mourn his departure and celebrate his victory, his loving and faithful wife, Irma; nephew, Oliver D. Ellis (Gloria) of Shreveport, LA; brother-in-law, Allen Moye (Melba) of Baton Rouge; nieces, Tonya Freeman and Terri Moye; 5 great nieces, 2 great nephews, 4 great-great nephews, special people in his life, Adell Williamson, Virginia Washington, Sandy Williams, Freda, Juanita and so many more friends.


Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until 11:00am with funeral services beginning at 11:00am.  Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.  Rev. Thomas will officiate.
