Obie Nathaniel Williams, 71, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Obie was born to Lee Williams and Leona Bettis Williams, on March 1, 1953, in Bancroft, Louisiana. He grew up in Bancroft along with his six siblings, and graduated with the Class of 1970 from Hyatt High School.
In 1981, Obie married Patricia Johnson and within this union four children were raised in love: Yamika, Patrick, Deidre, and Obie “Bubba”.
Obie had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and was affiliated with True Light Baptist Church (Merryville) where he served as Deacon.
He will be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, “PawPaw”, Brother, Uncle, friend, cook, grill master, landscaper, western watching, and mild-mannered man who gave the best hugs, was fiercely keeping the faith, and was fighting the good fight until the end.
Those left to cherish his memories: Wife, Patricia Williams; Children: Yamika Brown (John), Deidre Williams, Obie R. “Bubba” Williams (Amber); Siblings: Leo Williams, Linda Harrison, Pennie Mitchell, Eddie Lee Williams, Earnestine Hinton; Grandchildren: Tristian Brown, Darius Brown, Phillip Williams, Ana Williams, D’Ante Williams, D’Andre Williams, Dae’Jion Williams, Dae’Vion Williams, Dae’Marion Williams, Jayden McClain, Jordan Williams; Great-Grandchildren: Leilani Brown, Marcelo Brown, Phoenix Williams; Self-Adopted Daughter, Alison Holmes Patterson (Shayne); and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Relatives, and Friends.
Obie was preceded in death by: Son, Patrick Lee Williams; Parents, Lee & Leona Bettis Williams, and Sister, Drulie Allen.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at True Light Baptist Church in Merryville, LA. Reverend Alan Hadnot will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Spikes Cemetery in Bancroft, LA.
