Norma Lee Doyle Droddy, age 93, passed from her earthly home into her Savior's arms on August 24, 2024. She was born on March 22, 1931, to Ezra and Gertrude Doyle in Singer, LA and remained in Singer her entire life.
Norma Lee was an avid fishing woman spending many days on the river, then preparing her catch for a hearty meal. She loved to make her famous corn bread in her cast iron skillet to accompany her made with love chicken and dumplings. Norma Lee also enjoyed canning, crocheting and making quilts, which she generously gave as gifts to her loved ones. She developed her own ministry by transporting anyone in need of rides to appointments or shopping, helping a long list of people in her lifetime. Norma Lee was a twin with her brother, Dorman Doyle and seven other siblings. Her mother Gertrude Doyle gave birth to three sets of twins along with three other children. Their home was filled with love and many memories were made by all.
Norma Lee Droddy is survived by her sons, David Droddy (Angie) of Toledo Bend, LA, Marlon Droddy (Barb) of Vermilion, OH; she cherished time with her grandchildren, Miste (David) Bourgeois, Biff Ryan Droddy (Allison) and Chasity Droddy. Norma Lee has seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. In January, Norma Lee was blessed to have taken pictures with five generations proudly with love. She is also survived by her brothers, Norman Dale Doyle, Wilbert (Tete) Doyle; sister, Linda Sue McCue.
Norma Lee was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Droddy (J.W.); parents, Ezra and Gertrude Doyle; her twin, Dorman Doyle; brothers, Rodney and Ronald Doyle; Gilbert Doyle; sister, Melba Jean Puryear.
Norma Lee's personal relationship with the Lord served to be her strength and she never failed to hug you and say, "Bless You". 2nd Corinthians 5:8 tells us to believe "absent from the body, present with the Lord." Norma Lee would want us to rejoice and give praise to the Lord for her blessings of ninety-three years.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Brother Donnis Ashworth will officiate the service. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Marlon Droddy, Devon Jones, Biff Droddy, Ronnie Puryear, Lonnie Puryear, Marty Puryear. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, LA.
