Nellie Mae "Ellen" Handy

Nellie Mae “Ellen” Grinds Handy, 94, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, William Spikes of Houston, TX; daughters, Diana Hamilton and Willie of Lake Charles, LA, Jennifer Handy and Percy of DeRidder, LA, Frankie Williams and Reverend Leon of Memphis. TN; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, twenty-four great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Handy; sons, Clarence Handy, Frank Handy, Jr.; daughters, Ella Mae Handy Thompson, Katie LeCoq; parents, Robert and Mollie Grinds; brothers, Jessie Grinds, Robert Grinds, Jr.; sister, Ella Mae Grinds Gamble.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Louis Guy will officiate the service. Active Pallbearers will be Bruiser Handy, Logan Hamilton, Kevin Handy, Keith Fulton, Michael Engrum, Stephen LeCoq, Clarence Handy and Shamel Handy. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Spikes, Willie Hamilton, Alfred Handy, Richard McClinton, Mikey Fulton, Chris Bryant, Harold McReynolds and Harold Coleman, Jr. Burial will follow at Starlight Baptist Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
