Modest Lofton

Modest Lofton, 75, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, April, 15, 2018.

Mrs. Lofton taught school in the Beauregard Parish School System for 34 years, helping shape the minds and lives of countless students. She served willingly and faithfully at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and in the community.

Those left to cherish her memory and legacy are her son, Samuel Lofton Jr. of Lafayette, LA; daughter, Mary Lofton of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Jeanette Johnson of Panama City, FL, Dian Miller of DeRidder, LA and Betty Keller of Killeen, TX; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Mount Zion Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will continue and service will be held on on Saturday, April 21, 2018, also at Mount Zion Baptist Church, beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Reverend Ronald Jordan will officiate the service.  Pallbearers will be Raymond Ford, Sam Ford, Jared Miller, Leonard Smith, Jr. and Antonio Ford. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons and Youth department of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
