Mildred McDonald McKee

Mildred McDonald McKee was born August 12, 1936 to Louis and Janie McDonald and passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Leesville, LA. She grew up in Hyatt/Fields with her sister, Margaret, whom she loved dearly. She graduated from Hyatt High School with her cousins.

She worked for Dr. Brown and Dr. Carter in DeRidder before she met Odom McKee. They married in 1959 and then traveled during the 1960's with the US Army to Washington State. Upon returning to Louisiana, Mildred then began working with the McKee family at McKee Grocery, McKee Dairy and Chapel Rentals, while also taking care of her parents.

She attended Rosepine United Pentecostal Church and was a very wonderful hostess for the church for many years. Odom and Mildred were Baptized in Jesus name on September 21, 2000, by Brother Gary Bankson. She loved the Lord and was very faithful to her church family. 

She spent the last three years of her life in the Woodlands. While there she sang and praised the Lord daily. She was cared for by her wonderful and faithful caregivers, Jenny Kay Hopkins, Kim Cormier and Kathy Farris, who made her daily life comfortable and filled with love.

Mildred will be greatly missed by her friends and family, that she leaves behind, as she entered the Pearly Gates of Heaven. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glenon G. McKee and Margaret of Rosepine, LA; nieces and nephews, Dalton McKee and Brenda, Glenon D. McKee and Maggie, Todd McKee and Sherry, Delena Welborn and John, all of Rosepine, LA, Roger O'Rear of Starks, LA, Angela Ramshur of Porter, TX, Jacqueline Williams of New Orleans, LA.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Odom McKee; sister, Margaret Foster; parents, Louis and Janie Hyatt McDonald; nephew, Darrell O'Rear; niece, Sherry O'Rear.

Her family would like to thank the Woodlands and Mildred's amazing caregivers for the excellent care and compassion shown throughout her time there. She has left her family with many great memories and favorite Bible verse Psalms 23.

 Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Rosepine United Pentecostal Church, 18355 Johnny B. Hall Memorial Highway, Rosepine, LA, 70659. Brother Gary Bankson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Dalton McKee, Glenon David McKee, Gabriel McKee, Todd McKee, Jacob McKee, Johnny Welborn, Daniel Welborn, Nathan McKee, John Welborn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glenon McKee, Cody McKee, Dennis Parrot, Larry Smith, Joey Bolinger, Roger O'Rear. Burial will follow the service at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.
