Mary Ann Whiddon

Mary Ann McIlvain Whiddon. 83, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 16, 2024.She was born on March 08, 1941, in Houston, TX to Otis and Alpha McIlvain. 

Mary Ann was a vibrant spirit with a heart of gold. After graduating from M.B. Smiley High School in Houston and barber school, she embarked on a career as a skilled barber, initially in Orange, Texas alongside her husband, Marvin.

With a passion for family and community, Mary Ann transitioned from barbering to becoming a dedicated school bus driver for the BPSB system. This role allowed her to cherish precious moments with her children, accompanying them on school field trips.

A devoted homemaker, Mary Ann found joy tending to her garden, embarking on fishing and camping adventures with her loved ones, and reconnecting with cousins during cherished trips to Carbon Hill, Alabama and East Texas. Family reunions were a highlight, bringing her immense happiness.

As a loving grandmother, Mary Ann opened her home to her grandchildren, creating a nurturing environment while their parents worked. Camping trips with her grandchildren were among her favorite pastimes. Her greatest joy, however, was the unconditional love she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their visits were the sunshine of her days.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Marvin Whiddon, Sr, Her Children: Thalmage and Wanda Whiddon of Cleveland, TX. Tammy and Beaux Victor of DeRidder, LA., Andy and Renee Whiddon of Junction Community, and Rene and Mike Primeaux of Bossier City, LA. Grandchildren; Trey and Bridget Victor, Amanda Primeaux, Cody and Cami Primeaux, Vivian Whiddon, Alan Whitaker, and Corey Whitaker. Great Grand Children; Ariana Victor, Summer Victor, Kirsten Paulk, Naddalynn Victor, Victoria Morales, Nevaeh Morales, Paisley Whiddon, Alan Whitaker, Destiny Whitaker, Dustin Whitaker, Alexis Whitaker, Natalie Whitaker, Sam Whitaker, and soon to be baby Kinsley. Great- Great Grand Children; Dason Inboden, Deaglan Whitaker, and Stephan Mitchell. Brother; Tommie and Sherrill McIlvain of Bangs, TX. 

Mary was preceded in death by; her parents, her mother and father-in-law; Bob and Joyce Whiddon.

The family would like to say special thanks to the staff at Westwood Manor, Beauregard Health System and Heart of Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in the Chapel of Myers Colonial Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be at Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA beginning at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday August 19, 2024. Visitation will continue Tuesday, August 20 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Jason Fuller will officiate services. A burial will be held in Cannon Cemetery after the funeral service.
