It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Margenette Ford, who left us on April 7, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on August 19, 1960, in Hawthorne, Louisiana, Margenette was a vibrant soul who brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone she met.
Margenette, a devoted mother, grandmother and sister is survived by her children, Edward Johnson, Jr. of DeRidder, Makeia Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Marlana Ford and Victor Edmonds of Raliegh, NC; siblings, Mable Hickman of DeRidder, LA, Clifford Ford and Jeanie of DeRidder, LA, Gary Ford and Terri of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Ionna Johnson, Edward Johnson, III, Elias Johnson; great grandchildren, Eliana and Alania Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Margenette was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Ford; father, Eddie Rogers; granddaughter, Markhiya Johnson and sisters, Alice Groves and Sharon Ford.
She was known as a one-of-a-kind mother and a loving aunt, always putting her family first and caring for others in her unique way. For many years, she was a cherished member of Grace Church and loved attending services where her faith was a cornerstone of her life.
Known for her adventurous spirit, Margenette earned the nickname "Road Runner" in her younger years. She had a knack for driving anything with wheels, but her heart truly belonged to her career as a truck driver for the government. Summertime brought special memories, like the time she loaded all the kids up in the car for an unforgettable trip to Disney World.
Margenette had a passion for life and loved her favorite color green. She also had a soft spot for Judge Judy, often watching her favorite show.
We invite all who loved Margenette to join us in honoring her life. A public visitation will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed immediately by a memorial service at the same location at 11:00 AM. Pastor George Lee Glass will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Hickman, Sr., Edward Johnson, Jr., Devin Ford, Jeremy Hickman, Christian Ford, Gary Ford, Clifford Ford, Vicktor Edmonds, Christopher Ford. Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home.
Margenette Ford may have left this world, but her spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.
