With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Malvin Eldridge Wagnon Jr., who left this world on January 19, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 7, 1937, in DeRidder, Louisiana, Malvin dedicated his life to service, both in his military career and in his community.

Malvin served honorably in the United States Navy, enlisting on July 9, 1957, and served until he retired after 20 years. He achieved the rank of E-6 and worked as a hydraulic specialist on esteemed aircraft carriers, notably the USS Enterprise and USS Forrestal. His commitment to his country and his fellow service members exemplified loyalty and excellence.

In addition to his military service, Malvin was a devoted family man and community leader. He married Patricia on January 26, 1963, in El Campo, Texas. Together, they managed the Emory Wallace Retreat Center for an impressive 32 years and then another 13 years after it was changed to Bundick Lake Retreat Center, where they created a welcoming environment for countless individuals. Malvin and Patricia were well-known in their community, particularly as the enthusiastic supporters of the East Beauregard High School girls basketball team for over 32 years, where they affectionately became known as Mr. and Mrs. Wag.

Malvin will be remembered as a kind-hearted individual whose contributions to both the church and his local community left a lasting impact.
