Malvern C. Galloway

d. August 6, 2017

Malvern C. Galloway, 90, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on August 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Malvern was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on April 5, 1927 and was known to family and friends as “M.C. or Vern”.  He loved the outdoors – camping, fishing, hunting, and he had a great green thumb when it came to gardening.  He could carry on a conversation with anyone and he never met a stranger.  Malvern had long and successful careers in offshore and the logging business.  Paw Paw will be truly missed and forever treasured in our hearts.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Lee Galloway; daughters, Jenny Shuff of DeRidder, LA, Debbie Beard, Rosa Ramsey and husband Dale and son, Malvern Galloway and wife Renee, all of Merryville, LA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; two nephews; one niece; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Carolyn R. Galloway; his daughter, Barbara Galloway Rico and his brother, J.P. Galloway.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 5:00 PM-9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 9, 2017, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.  Brother Jason Fortenberry will officiate.  Pallbearers will be the grandsons:  Joe Stark, James Stark, Lee Shuff, Paul Galloway, Derek Galloway, John Lewis, Cody Galloway, and Josh Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Jodi Galloway, Lacy Rico and LeAnn Beard. Burial will follow at Hennigan Cemetery in Merryville, LA.
