Lonnie Roy Williams, Sr.

Lonnie Roy Williams was born January 12,1954 at Huey P. Long Hospital in Pineville, Louisiana to the late Fred Louis and Inez Cooksey Williams. He passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025. He was the fourth born of seven children.

He was educated in the Beauregard Parish School system beginning at Carver Elementary School and graduating from Deridder High School in 1973. He was in the Carver Band as a trombonist.

His employment history began at a very early age as a paper carrier for the Alexandria Town Talk, spanning to KP service at then Fort Polk, United Gas Pipeline and finally transferring to Boise Paper Mill, now PCA. He retired in 2019 after 40 years of employment with the company as an A/B operator in the Pulp Mill. Always working to ensure the comfort of his family.

In the year of 1990 Lonnie was united in marriage to Cynthia Forward of Newton, Texas. To this union two children were born. On September 13,1998 Lonnie was baptized at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ by the late Supt. Henry Tyler Sr.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Inez Williams, brother Donald Ray Williams, Sisters Virginia Dell March, Margie Kizzie Hamilton and Elouise Stanford.

Lonnie leaves to cherish his memories and carry out his legacy; his wife, Cynthia Forward-Williams, two sons, Jason Cotton of Deridder, LA, Lonnie Williams II (Jasmine) of Bossier City, LA. Two daughters, Alexis Woods-Young of Zachary, LA and ZeKia LaRoyal Williams of Deridder, LA, five grandchildren; siblings, Yvonne Simien of Lake Charles, LA, Dearlice Allen (Carl) of Deridder, LA, Sharon Lee (Ruben) of Deridder, LA, Gail Dotson (Larry) of Haughton, LA; sister in law, Helen Williams; Brother in law, Esau Hamilton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends, also his dear mother in law, Maxine Forward.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 9:00 AM and continue until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ, 501 E. North St., DeRidder, LA. Pastor Murray Piper will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Andrew Allen, Esau Hamilton, Russell Forward, Larry Dotson, Lonnie Roy Williams, II, Jason Cotton. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
