Lonnie C. Cole, Jr.

d. August 3, 2017

Lonnie C. Cole, Jr., 92, was born October 11, 1924 and passed away August 3, 2017 holding the hand of his devoted wife of 70 years, Anna Verne, and surrounded by his loving family.

L.C., affectionally known as PapPaw was a Christian, proud veteran of WWII, a mechanic at Transco Pipeline for 20 years, a Master Mason for over 50 years at Magnolia Lodge #238 in Ragley, and avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and farm. He was” lovingly” often told by friends and family that he was full of it…..and he was……dry witt. But, all of the wonderful, sometimes rough, qualities of the man made him the PapPaw we all loved. From the youngest grandchild to the oldest, he loved them all and always enjoyed trying to teach them how to live life in the country. He was truly a country boy and never tried to hide it.

Funeral service will be held Monday August 7, 2017 at Magnolia Baptist Church in Ragley, Louisiana at 3 PM under the direction of Myers colonial Funeral Home.  The Reverend’s Wilton Anthony, David Free, and Carlie Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow service in Magnolia Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family at Magnolia Baptist Church in Ragley on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 5-9 PM and Monday August 7, 2017 from 1:00 PM until time of service.

L.C. is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Anna Verne Callaway Cole, daughters Judy (Glen) Guidry and Jan Outlaw, all of Ragley; brother, Mick Cole of Ragley; 7 Grandchildren, Kelby Outlaw, Jana Hudson, Joni Fontenot, Lisa Spooner, Kyla Cole, Michael Nicholson, and Neil Guidry; 16 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. L.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Montella Cole, sister Mattie Slaydon, and brothers Frank Cole and Jewel Cole.

The family would like to extend our appreciation to Dr. Brian Clements for his loving and compassionate care of our PapPaw over the years and especially on his final earthly day.  We also want to thank our close family friend, Hardy Myers of Myers Colonial Funeral Home, for his loving support of our family throughout the years and especially at this time.
