It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa Sue Smith Gentry on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the age of 55. Lisa was born on August 18, 1969 in Rosepine, LA to Carl Smith and Annita Smith Young. 

 Lisa was the youngest out of nine children. In her early years, she was raised in Rosepine, LA until the third grade, and then her family moved to DeQuincy, LA where she finished her primary education and graduated from DeQuincy High School. She then attended Delta Technical College receiving three separate business certificates and McNeese State University receiving her Associates degree as a Paralegal. She was later commissioned as a Louisiana Notary.

 Lisa met the love of her life and beloved husband, Rodney Gentry. They were married on February 2, 1989. Together they started their life in California, and Lisa gained two beautiful bonus children. Later on, Lisa would give Rodney three more beautiful children. Together they shared 25 years of love until Rodney’s death in May 2014.

 Lisa was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and for being a believer of Christ. Lisa was the owner and operator of T-Shirts Plus, a business started with Rodney in DeRidder, LA in 1998 until it closed in 2007. She not only operated her own business, but she also worked for a Law Firm, the US Postal Service, Coushatta Casino, and as a travel Notary. Upon retiring due to health problems, Lisa would enjoy helping others with legal matters, sewing, and spending time with her family.

 Preceded in joining the Lord: Father – Carl Smith, Husband – Rodney Gentry, Siblings – Carla Fae Smith, Cindy Jo Smith, and David L. Smith. 

 Survived by: children: daughter Sariee’ Daigle (Daniel), sons Christopher Gentry and Matthew Gentry (Stephanie) all of DeRidder, Louisiana; Rodney M. Gentry (Karen) and Tynisha Gentry Yates both of San Diego, California; 11 grandchildren; Mother: Annita Smith Young – Tennessee; Siblings: Anita Mae Smith Burgess – Tennessee, Steven C. Smith (JoAnne) – Alabama, Calvin Smith – Louisiana, Martha Slawnikowski (Tim) – Arkansas, Dale Smith (DeAnna) – Tennessee, Sister-in-Law: April Smith – Texas, as well as several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Come and See Foundation allowing the Gospel of Christ to be shared throughout the world through The Chosen series.  Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. 

 No memorial services will be held at this time as Lisa’s remains will be returned to her children. She will be buried at a later date with her husband Rodney’s remains.
