Leroy Joseph Miller, 85, of Dequincy, LA, passed from this life on Monday, October 30, 2017.
Leroy graduated from Pecan Island High School in 1951. He worked as a Dragline Operator for Dr. MO Miller. He served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Manchester and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Transco in Ragley, LA after 35 years of service. He owned and operated Leroy’s Saddle Shop, where he made saddles, whips and spurs. He was a member of the VFW Post 179, Louisiana Volunteers, American Legion and the USO. In 1952 he married Lina Hebert, and on May 11, 1917, they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Those left to cherish his memory are his spouse of 65 years, Lina Miller of Ragley, LA; son, Pete Miller and wife Randy of Ragley, LA; daughter, Raenell Savell and husband Michael of Ragley, LA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, six great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. The family would like to thank Southern Home Health, Dr. Joudeh, Dr. Ewane and Harbor Hospice for the care given and kindness shown to Mr. Miller. Preceding him in death are his parents, Ignace and Edolia Miller and Roy and Beulah Hebert; brothers, Stabra and Ibra Miller; brother-in-law, John Hebert.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2017 also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, LA.
