Lenora Strevels was born on September 29, 1941, and embraced eternal life on March 11, 2025, in the heart of DeRidder, LA.

She dedicated several years to the National Guard and lovingly retired from the Clear Creek Independent School District after twenty-two remarkable years of driving a bus. Her heart thrived on moments spent with her cherished family and beloved animals, finding joy in the soothing melodies of Bluegrass music and the artistry of crafting beaded jewelry. Her spirit soared during travels to reconnect with friends, especially when visiting the storied Oklahoma Indian Reservations.

Those who hold dear to her memory include her beloved children, daughter, Janett and Darrell Thompson of Merryville, LA; sons, Milton and Margaret Mims of Longville, LA, Ben and Kim Mims of Manvel, TX. Her vibrant legacy continues through her grandchildren, Tonia and Rick Hatfield, Chuck and Brittany McKnight, Dylan Thompson and fiancé, Karly, Hunter Thompson, Larkin Mims, Justice and Amber Mims, Ben and Candice Mims, Brian Mims, Bradley and Samantha Mims, Andrea Russ, Chase Russ, Kris Rich, Bradly Singletary, Alexis Strevels, Caitlyn Strevels, James II and Flora Strevels, Anna Strevels, Jayme and Austin Starke, Jacob Strevels. The next generation, her great grandchildren, includes, Jeromi, Blake and fiancé, Sharon, McKenzie, Chelsea, Charlie, Samantha, Dominic, Kyeson, Ava, Stetson, Bentley, Mira Jane, Evan, Bryce, John, Braelynn, Baylee, Paizley, Addisyn, Braxton, Oakley, Pearl, Taylor, Kolton, Cash, Jennings, James III, Violet, Aurora, Ashton, Charlie, and Remi, along with her great-great grandchildren, Emma, Legend, Loralye, Hazel, and many others who lovingly called her “Grandma”.

She was welcomed into eternity by her beloved grandparents, Ruth and Benjamin Popejoy, her devoted parents, Roma Lee Popejoy and Andrew Jackson Murray, her son, James Daniel Strevels; her daughter, Renea Russ and her dear great granddaughter, Madilyn Mims.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, TX.
