Lieutenant Colonel Lee Allen Sherman, Sr. was called to his heavenly home May 5, 2022, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, Louisiana. Mister Sherman was 88 years of age, born April 21, 1934 in Bremerton, Washington. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Irene Crowell Sherman; father, George Mitchell Sherman; brothers, Frank and Tom Germaine.
Survived by wife, Barbara Irene Doyle Sherman; one son, Lee Allen Sherman Jr., of Port Orchard, Washington; two grandsons, Josh and Jake Sherman, and two great granddaughters, also of Washington. Mr. Sherman is survived by four brothers, Chuck Sherman, Jerry Sherman, George Germaine and Tim Germaine, all of Washington. Mr. Sherman is also survived by one stepson, Randall Neal White and wife Kimberely; four granddaughters, Rachelle, Emily, Katy, Savanna, and eight step great grandchildren, all reside in Texas except Savanna and family that live in Louisiana. Lieutenant Colonel Sherman’s greatest loves were his family, football, (where he excelled as one of the great players and was awarded a scholarship to Kalamazoo College), racecars, and his military career.
Due to his devotion to the US Army, he spent many years of his life doing active and reserve duty. He received his Certificate of Retirement from the United States Army on the twenty-first day of April, 1994. During his military career he received The Army Achievement Medal and many other awards. Due to his outstanding accomplishments as an instructor, he convinced many young officers to become educationally qualified. Lieutenant Colonel Sherman was a member of The American Legion, Roa, and a very active member of the Clean and Restore environmental clubs, where he worked diligently to help keep Southwest Louisiana free of toxins that cause so many health hazards. He stood up for his beliefs and was proud of his country. He will be missed and never replaced.
Graveside funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, LA. Reverend Alexandria Geovanni will officiate the service.
