Lawrence Chopfield, Jr.

Lawrence Chopfield, Jr., 43, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Lawrence was born on October 26, 1979 at Fort Johnson, LA. (formerly known as Fort Polk, LA). He graduated in 1997 from Merryville High School. He was a long time loyal employee of 26 years at Walmart.

Lawrence never met a stranger. He always carried a radiant smile, a happy demeanor and a kind heart.  He was a loving son to his parents, a compassionate partner to his longtime girlfriend, and a best friend to his siblings.

He enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, spending time with his family and meeting new people. He was an avid gun collector and loved spoiling his two pugs – Chili and Bean.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Lawrence, Sr. and Margie Chopfield of Merryville, LA; brother, Martell Hawthorne (Michelle) of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Brittany Hawthorne of Lake Charles, LA, LeQuita Chopfield of Merryville, LA; girlfriend, Shamika Bush (Bree and Gabrielle) of Merryville, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Evelyn Chopfield, and Levy and Pearlie Hawthorne.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 4:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Deacon Al Weinnig will officiate the service.
