Laila Viktoria Prather

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Laila Viktoria Prather, who left us too soon on February 25, 2025, at just 21 years young. Laila was born on January 29, 2004, in Fairfax, VA, and spent her life spreading joy and warmth to everyone around her. Though she was nonverbal, Laila had a unique way of communicating that spoke volumes - her smile could light up any room, and her eyes conveyed more than words ever could.

Laila was a true daddy's girl, always knowing when her father arrived home, even without seeing him. She loved her family fiercely, especially her niece and nephew, and her heart was as big as her love for her pets, especially her beloved cats. A fan of Hello Kitty, she brought happiness wherever she went, embodying a spirit that was both gentle and vibrant.

Laila is survived by her loving parents, Richard and Dominique Prather of Rosepine, LA who cherished every moment spent with their precious daughter. She taught us all about love, laughter, and the beauty of simple moments. Laila is also survived by her sister, Serena Prather of Rosepine, LA; her niece and nephew, Zakiya and Vernon, Jr. and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis and Deserette Vielma; grandmother, Christine Prather.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Laila's beautiful life with stories, memories, and the love that she so generously shared with us all.

Laila’s family would like to express heartfelt thank you to all the nurses, teachers and caregivers who have helped them care for her over the years. A very special thank you to Uncle David and Aunt Rebecca for always loving and supporting Laila.

Rest in peace, sweet Laila. You will forever be in our hearts.
