Karen Felecia Flemons Silas, 51 of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, October 8, 2022.


Karen was born the first of two children to Emma McBride and Joe Flemons, Sr. on May 17, 1971 in Leesville, LA. She attended school in Vernon Parish and graduated from Evans High School in 1989.


Karen met her soulmate, Marvin Silas as a young teenager. They were married in 1993 and remained until her passing. Together they had three kids. They lived a very happy, loving, and fulfilled life together accomplishing many goals set forth between the two of them.


Karen worked as a CNA and then decided to further her career by attending nursing school. The medical field held a special place in her heart. In her later years, Karen became an Associate Pastor. She loved to serve the Lord and remained faithful to him until her passing.


Karen was a very sweet and loving person. She had a positive spirit and it was typical to share loads of laughter while in her presence. She loved to bake and was well known for her sweet potato and pecan pies. Her main purpose in life revolved around caring for her family, especially her mom and granddaughters.


Karen leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Marvin Wayne Silas; son, Hakeen Silas; daughters, Samantha Silas and Rachel Silas; grandchildren, Kianna Silas and Kalecia Silas; mother, Emma McBride; brothers, Joe Flemons, Jr., Louis Johnson; sister, Latonya Johnson; aunt Vernie Silas(Gregory); sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wallace; brothers-in-law, Henry Silas(Cheryl), Frank Silas, Billy Ray Silas, Terry Silas(Zelma), Jerry Silas and Bobby Silas; God-children, Jarvis Jefferson, II, Tawanda Prim, both of Leesville, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins family and a close group of friends.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Old Path Apostolic Church in Oberlin, LA. Pastor Mary Williams will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Clifton Holmes, Damino Davis, Hakeem Silas, Bobby Silas, Henry Silas and Jerry Jackson, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jarvis Jefferson, Davonte Fuller and Louis Johnson. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
