Joy Mae Lambert

Joy Mae Lambert, age 85, was called home to her Heavenly Father on September 18, 2022.

She was born to Mann Bo McCaig of Daisetta, Tx and Goldie Davis of Rosepine, La on December 28th, 1936. In 1954, at the age of 17, she began courting her soon-to-be husband, Samuel James (Sonny Boy) Lambert. After saying "I Do" on June 2nd of 1955, they set off on what would be fifty-nine plus years of marriage. Along the way, they had six boys, and if Sonny Boy were alive, he would claim one girl, an ornery Shitzu named Mitzi. In 1969, Joy Mae would embark on a long career working for the Beauregard Parish School Food Service. She spent numerous years as the Pinewood Elementary School Food Service Manager and then retired December 20th of 1996 after twenty-seven years of service. There are still employees to this date that speak of how sweet, helpful, and caring she was. Those traits as well as her love and tenderness are also evident through her six sons. Joy Mae continued her caring through her avid support of the Shriner's and St Jude's Children's Hospitals. Samuel (Sonny Boy) might have been the hands that built the house, but Joy Mae is the foundation on which it was laid.

Joy Mae is survived by her six sons, Michael Edward Lambert, Gary Don Lambert and wife, Diane, Robert LeRay (Bobby) Lambert and wife, Kim, Steven Merle (Steve) Lambert and wife, Ramona, Samuel Todd (Sam) Lambert, and Joel Jeffery (Joey) Lambert and wife, Bianca; all of Deridder, La. Also survived by three siblings: sister, Bessie Chelette of Port Arthur, Tx, brother, Jerry McCaig and wife, Jean of Dequincy, La, and brother, Jimmy Gale McCaig of Deridder, La. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bo and Goldie McCaig, her husband, Samuel (Sonny Boy) Lambert, and one brother, Merle LeRay McCaig.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 9:00 AM, until the time of service at 10:00 AM, all at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.   Brother Jason Hoychick will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Michael Lambert, Gary Lambert, Bobby Lambert, Steve Lambert, Sam Lambert, Joey Lambert. Burial will follow at Lewis-New Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.
