Joseph Silas

Joseph Silas was born the fifth of thirteen children to Harris Mae (Conley) Silas and Robert Silas on March 17, 1958 in Poplarville, MS. As a young child, his father moved the family to Louisiana for better work opportunities. Joseph enjoyed a wonderful childhood with his siblings.

Joseph met his soulmate, Jackie Sue (Brown) Silas, as a young teenager. They were married in the late 1970s and remained until her passing in November of 2007. They lived a very happy, loving, and fulfilled life together accomplishing many goals set forth between the two of them.

Joseph graduated from truck driving school in Dallas, Texas in May of 1987. He then began his lifelong career as a very talented truck driver. For the past six years, he worked hard as a truck driver with one of the best trucking companies, Ricky Day Trucking.

Joseph was a very loving man. He loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children and attending family functions. He had a positive spirit, and it was typical to share loads of laughter while in his presence. Joseph loved loud, fast cars and enjoyed watching sports.

In 2018, Joseph gained the title he was most proud of, “Grandfather”, when his first grandchild was born. He loved spending time with him and watching him grow. He held a very special place in his heart.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Taleshia Annette Hall and Charissa Silas (Jerry Jackson, significant other); one son, Walter Silas; one grandchild, Rhajyi Amir Joseph Jackson; one sister, Elizabeth Wallace; nine brothers, Gregory Silas (Vernie), Henry Silas (Cheryl), Frank Silas, Billy Ray Silas, Terry Silas (Zelma), Jerry Silas, Marvin Silas (Karen), Bobby Silas, and Jamie Silas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
