Joseph Leroy Spell

October 26, 1924 - March 23, 2014

Joseph Leroy Spell, 89 of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, March 23, 2014.  Mr. Spell was a native of Crowley, LA, but grew up in Port Arthur, TX.  He worked in construction as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 479 for 20 years. He attended local Baptist Churches and loved to garden and to metal detect, shoot guns and be Pop-Pop to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Ronald “Ron” Spell of Merryville, LA, Michael “Mike” Spell and wife Sally of Port Arthur, TX, and Timothy “Tim” Spell and wife Melissa of San Leon, TX; grandchildren, Cade Spell and wife Jennifer, Tate Spell and wife Melissa, Kaley Spell, Todd Spell and Timothy Spell; great grandchildren, Avery, Siena, Arthur, Simeon, and Levi Spell.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will be from 12:00pm until 2:00pm with funeral services beginning at 2:00pm.  Burial will follow in Bivens Cemetery in Bivens, LA.  Rev. Lindsey Burns will officiate.
