John A. Cooley, Sr.

John Allen Cooley, Sr., 84, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Friday, May 28, 2021.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty-four years, Elizabeth “Liz” Cooley of Merryville, LA; son, John A. Cooley, Jr. and Cindi of Woodville, TX; daughter, Sarah Jones and Glenn of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, Richard “Buddy” Cooley and Bonnie of Merryville, LA; grandchildren, Lindsey Nicole Foster and Peter, Jace Cooley, Austin Jones, Bryce Cooley; great grandchildren, Claire and Ethan Foster and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lannie Cooley, brother, Jerry Cooley; sisters, Eloise Perry and Alice Faye Eaves.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 31, 2021, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Brother James Kinman will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jace Cooley, Peter Foster, Austin Jones, Bryce Cooley, Patrick Brazeal, Larry Cooley. Honorary Pallbearer will be Paul Cooley. Burial will follow at Meadows Cemetery in Merryville, LA.
