Jimmie Larue Lewis

Jimmie LaRue Lewis, 82, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Phillip Lewis & wife Elizabeth, Beth Lewis Jeffery & husband Jeff all of DeRidder, LA, Barbara Lewis Kite & husband Jeff of Lafayette, LA, Alan Farquhar & wife Stephanie and Dr. Steven Farquhar & wife Sandra all of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Faye Lewis Welborn & husband Gary of Atlanta, GA and Judy Lewis Lewey & husband Kenneth of Cincinnati, OH; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lewis and his parents, Peerless & Eunice Lewis.

He was a great man in so many ways to his family, friends and customers.  He truly loved people and found pleasure in sharing life with friends and family.  He was a great story teller and had many tales to tell, always entertaining those around him.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loving the outdoors.  He enjoyed growing a large garden and sharing his produce with friends and family. He was a successful businessman as founder and owner of Lewis Motors, previously known as National Sales Company.  He was loved and respected by his customers, offering a caring hand for those down on their luck or in need.  He touched the lives of so many.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 5:00 – 9:30 pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.   Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm with the funeral service starting at 12:00 pm.  Officiating the service will be Reverend George Lee Glass and Reverend Kevin Reeves.
