and entered into eternal rest on October 18, 2023 at her home with her daughter and son by her side.

Born in DeRidder, LA to Bertha & Rube Johnson on January 24, 1937.

Sister Yancy was educated in the DeRidder public school system. Then she went on to

further her education at Southern University and A & M College in Baton Rouge majoring in English. She went to back to school and received her Master’s in English.

After attending school, she socialized with Mrs. Barbara Jean and Mr. Euell Langston and asked one evening, “who is that tall drink of water?” Well, that tall drink of water happened to be Allen Yancy! They were married on December 14, 1966.

She was a baptized at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and she kept her membership, but later joined Beech Grove Baptist Church to be with husband.

She was a caregiver and moved back to DeRidder to take care of her mother until her

demise. She also took care of her brother Babe Ruth and her father Rube Melvon until their demise.

She also loved her community, speaking at many occasions. Most of all, she loved

speaking at church. She loved the Lord and would tell everyone about her love for the Lord.

She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for 25+ years. She was initiated

in Sigma Chi Omega Chapter at Fort Johnson, LA (formerly known as Fort Polk). She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Waterloo, Iowa. She was a member of the Ebonite Culture Unlimited Club, National Association of University Women/NAUW, and she was Teacher of the Year at many of the locations she taught.
