Jerome Goldwire

Jerome Goldwire was born in Guyton, Georgia on January 11, 1943, to the late Copper Goldwire and Carrie Holmes.  He was the older of two children.  Jerome married the late Barbara Jean Goldwire and to this union two sons were born.  Together they raised six children.  Jerome was united in holy wedlock to Sharon Miller Goldwire on January 8, 2000.  Jerome and Sharon raised three children together.


Jerome accepted the Lord in 1974.  He went on to become Pastor of Anders Temple Church of God In Christ in DeRidder, Louisiana.  Jerome served God with dignity and enthusiasm.  His last church home was the Compassionate Church of Jesus Christ in DeRidder.  Jerome also served our country for over twenty-four years in the United States Army.  He reached the rank of First Sergeant (E-8) and completed two overseas tours in Vietnam, two tours in Germany and one tour in Saudi Arabia.  Jerome retired from the Army in 1991 with numerous awards which included the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal,  the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon and the Combat Infantry Badge.


Jerome departed this life on May 9, 2013.  He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Sharon Goldwire; his mother, Carrie (Japan) Holmes; sons, Carl (Jeanette) Clark of Leesville, Matthew (Regina) Goldwire of Clarksville, TN, Mark (Tonya) Goldwire of DeRidder, and Steven Lewis of DeRidder; daughters, Denise (Radumnes) Villa of Kileen, TX, Tamara Owens of Killeen, TX, Sonya Sample of Chesapeake, VA, Angela Wright of DeRidder and Alesia (Shawn) Estis of DeRidder; brothers, Al Goldwire of Savannah, GA, Japan (Patricia) Holmes of Savannah, GA, Bernard (Debra) Holmes of Jacksonville, FL, Calvin (Loraine) Holmes of Fredericksburg, VA; special sister, Linda (Amos) Richardson of Zwolle, LA; special brothers, George Williams of New Jersey, Paul (Barbara) Cado of DeRidder, George (Ruth) Edwards of Fairfield, TX; adopted son, Reginald (Sonya) McCoy of Morton, MS; adopted daughter, Ashley Glover of Beaumont, TX; goddaughter, Jerry Evans of Zwolle, LA; uncle, James (Gladys) Goldwire of Pooler, GA; aunts, Flossie Charles of Savannah, GA and Thelma Hart of Savannah, GA; 24 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; special friends, Hebert Majors and Leon Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other special friends.


Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ in Leesville, LA from 9:00am until 11:00am with funeral services beginning at 11:00am.  Burial will follow at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA.  Superintendent, Maurice Johnson will officiate.
