James “Jim” Brown, Sr., 76, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Jim served his country in the United States Army. As an Army instructor-trainer, he was responsible for the training of the troops being shipped to battle during the Vietnam Conflict.
Those left to cherish his memory are his spouse, Wilma Myers Brown of Merryville, LA; sons, Gene Shrout of Bon Weir, TX, Edward Shrout of Merryville, LA, Jimmy Brown Jr. and Kerri of Clever, MO, Michael Brown of Nevada, MO, and Vince Brown of Belton, MO; brothers, Alvin Brown and Linda of Seymour, MO, Larry Brown of Eldon, MO, Gerry Brown of Eldon, MO, and Densel Brown of Richland, MO; sister, Darlene Strickland of Eldon, MO; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Lovetta Brown; brothers, Leroy Brown and Ellis Brown; daughter, Giselle Watson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 9, 2017, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Merryville Cemetery in Merryville, LA.
