James Earl Mitchell

Brother James Earl Mitchell, 96, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 04, 2023.

Brother James served proudly in the US Army for twenty-seven- and one-half years. After retiring from the Army, he worked at Phelps Correctional Institution for ten years. He was a long-time member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, where he was the financial secretary for many years. James is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Maxine Mitchell of DeRidder, LA; sons, Willie Clubbs of VA, Kenneth Clubbs of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Jean Stewart of Baton Rouge, LA, Ruby Pratt of CA, Wanda Williams of CA, Linda Relford of DeRidder, LA, Brenda Commissiong of DeRidder, LA, Shirley Sterling of Atlanta, GA; cousin, Linda Williams of VA and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Mitchell; sons, Ronald Stewart, Robert Clubbs; daughters, Rosaline Stewart, Audrey Archie; mother, Louise Peebles.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Deridder, LA. Pastor Louis Guy will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be US Army Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roy Davis, Marvin Scott, Bill Spikes, Ellis Ray Spikes, Cyprian Clubbs, Kephern Clubbs. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
