Jack Milton Alston, born October 10, 1937 in Singer, LA, passed from this life on Friday, December 20, 2019 in the comfort of his son and daughter-in-law’s home at the age of 82.
Jack loved his hometown of Singer, LA and the people who lived there. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved his cattle and his job with the Louisiana Department of Highways. He spent 2 years in the U.S. Army, which proved very valuable during his long, crippling illness. The family is very grateful and wishes to give thanks to the VA, hospice and all who offered prayers for Jack and his family.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of more than 59 years, Joyce Coleman Alston; daughter, Kimberly Bednorz of Houston, TX; son, Douglas Shane Alston and Tammy of Little Elm, TX; sister, Arlene Cornwell of Rosepine, LA; grandsons, Johnathon Boone & Christina and Nicholas Boone; great granddaughter, Lilith Hoover and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claiborne “Dick” and Oddie Miers Alston; brothers, Alvin Alston, Donald Ray Alston, Morrill Alston and Norris Alston; sister, Bobbie Spivey.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 24, 2019 also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Brother Joey Franks will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Johnathon Boone, David Prather, Thomas Lilley, Morrill Alston, Jr., and Tim Myers. Burial will follow at Newlin Cemetery in Singer, LA.
