Ima Violet Harbison Keel

November 3, 1929 - November 26, 2014

Ima Violet Harbison Keel, 85, of DeRidder, LA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at her home.  She was born to Henry and Sarah Jane Smith Harbison on November 3, 1929, at Burkeville, TX.

Ima was united in marriage to LeRoy L. Keel, March 16, 1946.  To this union were born 3 sons and 2 daughters.  Ima was a dedicated member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years, she was saved at the age of 17.  She was treasurer of Old Cypress Cemetery for many, many years.  Ima was a faithful member of the Nursing Home Singers, visiting local homes twice a week.  She enjoyed spending time with her multitude of friends and sisters in Christ, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, James “Dale” Keel and wife Judy of Aurora, MO, Donald Ray Keel “Donnie” of Wheaton, MO, and Danny LeRoy Keel and wife Beverly of Colby, KS; daughters, Linda Gale Hickman and husband Ellis of Yellville, AR, and Norma Jean Brown and husband Tony of Rosepine, LA; sister, Rachel Richmond of DeRidder, LA, brothers, Robert “Bob” Harbison and wife Versie of DeRidder, LA, and Gary Harrod and wife Janie of DeRidder, LA; she was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years; her parents; stepfather, Monroe Harrod; grandson; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Funeral services will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Old Cypress Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.  Bro. Dale Keel and Bro. Danny Keel will officiate.
