Helen Irine Newcomb Swain

Helen Irine Newcomb Swain, 73, wife of Rev. George A. Swain, Sr., of Evans, LA gained her Heavenly Crown on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Helen was born to William “Bill” & Flora Bell Lanter Newcomb of Knoxville, TN on December 11, 1945. She was the First Lady of Lillie Pentecostal Church in Cottonwood, LA and a 53 year resident of Evans, LA.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. George A. Swain, Sr.; four sons, Franklin Swain, Sr., George Alton Swain, Jr., Scott Gill and Heath Rogers; six daughters, Robyn Godeaux, Fonda Gill, Angel Swain, Krissy Rogers, Lois Swain and Annette Swain; seventeen grandsons, Franklin Swain, Jr., Jasper Swain, Jordan Jeane, Justus Cox, Casey Godeaux, Justin Godeaux, Jordan Godeaux, Skylar Godeaux, Nacona Gill, Brandin Armstrong, Dakota Luckey, John Alvarez, Jeremy Herring, Nate Derouen, Brent Johnson, Richard Davis and Austin Harvey; eighteen granddaughters, Lachrisha Cox, Megan Armstrong, McKenzi Cox, Isabella Godeaux, Heather Samuel, Kalynn Herring, Sarah Davis, Sarah Swain, Chyenne Derouen, Kendra Johnson, Reina Swain, Hannah Swain, Hailey Jeane, Audrie Swain, Heather Swain, Katie Laurant, Marie Harvey and Roxie Alvarez; thirty-six great grandchildren, Brayden & Bryson Swain, Hunter, Faithlynn & Ella Herring, Jaydah & Jaylin Samuel, Levi & Raylen Godeaux, Railynn, Aiden, Autumn & Easton Armstrong, Radley, Colton, Huck & Aspen McMillan, Juvia, Janelle, Arri & Uriah Harvey, Madelyn & Colt Johnson, Cole Brazwell, Daisey & Southern Bell Deaton, Ally Brister, Lucas & Eli Kelley, Levi Parker & Arrianna Cloud, Kaius Emfinger, Daniel & Liza Alvarez, Carson Shoemaker & Riley Cox and two who are on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” & Flora Bell Lanter Newcomb; one grandson, Dakota Kelley; three sisters, Dora Keener, Bobbi Davis, Sarah Hilderbrant; three brothers, Jimmy, Randy and Buddy Newcomb.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Lillie Pentecostal Church in Cottonwood, LA and will continue on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 9:00 AM till time of funeral at 2:00 PM.  Frank Swain, Jr., Brent Johnson and George Robinson will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Plunkaway Cemetery in Evans, LA.
