Hebert Edwin Smith

Herbert Edwin Smith, 89, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on November 28, 2016 at Resthaven in Lake Charles, LA.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Brian Smith and wife Lisa of Lake Charles, LA; his brother, Royce Smith and wife Frances of White Oak, TX; his grandchildren, Sophie Smith and Cash Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Avie Smith; his wife, Sylvia Harper Smith; his brothers, Carmen Smith, J.B. Smith, Clarence Smith; his sisters, Irene Emmons, Belva Hester, Margie Cooley, and Helen Daffin.

Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 2:00PM-7:00PM with the service time at 6:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Mr. Smith’s great nephew, David Smith, will officiate the memorial service.

Mr. Herbert Smith was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean War.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW and the American Legion.  He retired from WestVaco after numerous years of service.
