Harry J. Anderson, 92, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Saturday, November 25, 2011 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Harry was born in Sabine Parish, Louisiana to Perry and Myrtie Anderson, Sr.  He lived most of his life in the DeRidder area.  Harry worked in the shipyards at Orange, Texas during WWII building ships.  He attended McNeese State University and graduated from Louisiana State University achieving a degree in Agriculture, working afterward in Soil Conservation.  Harry later became a teacher.  He taught for 33 years at DeRidder High School, returning to McNeese to earn a Masters degree in Education and plus thirty certification. Harry was a member of the Pentecostal faith and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.


Harry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Spence Anderson of DeRidder; 1 Brother, Chester Homer Anderson of DeRidder; 1 Sister, Naomi “Sis” Glass of DeRidder and a host of nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.


Visitation will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder on Saturday, November 26, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside services will be held at Sardis Cemetery in Noble, Louisiana on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.  Rev. Glass will officiate.
